The short version: you don't need an account or email to use any calculator on this site. Your income, expenses, and results are calculated entirely in your browser and are never sent to or stored on our servers.

What We Collect

Can I Afford collects the minimum amount of data needed to keep the site running and improve it:

Google Analytics — standard, anonymized traffic data (pages visited, approximate location, device type, referral source). This helps us understand which calculators and articles are useful. It does not include your name, email, or anything you type into a calculator.
Optional feedback — after using a calculator, you may be shown a short prompt asking whether the result was helpful, with an optional comment box. If you choose to submit it, we receive the calculator type, the general result category, and whatever comment you wrote. This is anonymous — we don't collect your name or email through this form, and submitting it is entirely optional.

What We Don't Collect

No account creation, ever
No email address required to use any calculator
Your income, rent, savings, and other calculator inputs are never transmitted or stored — they exist only in your browser session and disappear when you close the tab

Cookies & Local Storage

Google Analytics may set standard analytics cookies. We may also use your browser's local storage to remember small preferences (like whether you've already seen a one-time prompt) — this stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Third Parties

We use Google Analytics for traffic insights and Google's infrastructure to receive optional feedback submissions. Both are subject to Google's own privacy policy. We do not sell or share data with advertisers, data brokers, or lenders.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to This Policy

If our data practices change, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
